Hannes van Rensburg is the founder of Fundamo the first mobile banking solution that was acquired by Visa Inc in June 2011 for USD 110M. Hannes is the father of mobile payments and has been voted as one of the top hundred most influential people in telecommunication three years in a row.
At the time of acquisition, Fundamo was the global leader in the provision of mobile banking solutions in emerging markets. Fundamo platforms processed billions of transactions annually in 34 countries for millions of account holders. In 2011 Hannes was given a lifetime achievement award by MEF for his work in growing the mobile payment industry globally.
He recently launched his book: “Cash in, Cash out”, describing the birth and growth of Fundamo. The book is a source of inspiration for entrepreneurs working in emerging markets.
Hannes joined ACI Worldwide as Senior Vice President in April 2016 with the brief to develop new initiatives in the payments industry, primarily focused on the US market. He currently lives in Naples, Florida.
